"Soup of the Day"...just got serious!
My Exercise Fundamentals have borne these titles: Movement Matters. Mindfulness Matters. Intensity Matters. “To matter” means to be of importance, significance, of great consequence. My titles are deliberate. My own attempt to make you the reader, you the exerciser sit up and take notice.
I want you – no need you – to understand and fully embrace what I know to be the truth: What reams of hard, scientific evidence, and years and years of experience (beyond my own) consistently support, undeniably prove. I am stating important facts. You ignore them, I believe, at your own peril. And in some instances, at the peril of those around you. The consequences of disbelieving, ignoring the fact that Movement Matters, that Intensity Matters are – I believe – pretty terrible. Ignoring these facts can lead to a sedentary existence, fitness plateaus, injuries, frustrations, stagnations, and a whole host of negative physical and mental manifestations. But these pale in comparison to ignoring this simple truth: Your Life Matters.

Inspiration of the Day
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela

Bite of the Day
I love grilled vegetables. Anything and everything on the barbeque tastes so yummy. Just please don’t overcook! Last night I made a pot of simple, delicious lemon, parmesan orzo.

And while it simmered in the pot, I cleaned and chopped a few different vegetables. I keep the vegetables separate on a large cutting board so I can toss them in a large serving bowl and add olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and kosher salt and then add them to the grill basket at different times:
- First into the large bowl went 3 sliced shallots and a whole head of chopped broccoli (I slice the stems up too)
- After 7 minutes I add a sliced red pepper and one jalapeño pepper
- 5 minutes later asparagus snapped into thirds.
- 3 minutes later, take the whole grill basket off and pour it back into your tossing bowl.
- Add the orzo, loads of chopped fresh basil, ground pepper to taste and fold everything together.
